CollegeGPA is a student-led project built to take the guesswork out of academic calculations. What started with a single CGPA-to-percentage calculator for Indian university students is growing into a network of free, country-specific academic tools — and this blog is the central hub that connects all of them.

Who we are

CollegeGPA was founded by Sagnik J., a finance graduate from India, out of a simple frustration: official CGPA-to-percentage and GPA conversion rules are scattered across PDFs, circulars, and forum posts, and most existing calculators online don’t bother citing where their formula actually comes from.

We’re not a university, an accreditation body, or an admissions consultancy. We’re a small, independent team building tools we wished existed when we were students ourselves.

What we do

CollegeGPA runs a network of free academic calculators — CGPA, GPA, SGPA, CPI, and percentage converters — built around the specific grading systems used by individual universities and national grading conventions, rather than one generic formula applied everywhere.

• CollegeGPA India (collegegpa.in) — calculators built for Indian university grading systems, including university-specific tools like Calcutta University and Mumbai University.
• CollegeGPA Blog (this site) — guides, explainers, and academic news that sit above all our country properties.
• Upcoming regional sites — we’re building out equivalent tools for the US, Canada, UK, and Australia, each tuned to that country’s own GPA and grading conventions.

How we build our calculators

Before we publish a calculator, we try to trace the formula back to a primary source — an official university circular, a regulatory notification, or a published grading policy — rather than copying whatever number is already floating around the internet. Where a formula can only be confirmed through a secondary source, or where a classification depends on conditions we can’t verify programmatically (like first-appearance rules for a distinction grade), we say so directly on the page instead of quietly guessing.

That said, grading regulations change, and every institution has the final word on your official record. Our tools are built to give you a fast, well-sourced estimate — not a replacement for your official transcript or your university’s examination department. See our Disclaimer for more on this.
